Creating Vector Fields from Datasets
Dragonfly provides the option to generate vector fields from datasets. For example, to further examine pressure and velocity data published from permeability simulations created in Dragonfly’s Porous Microstructure Analysis (PuMA) module. A vector field generated from a PuMA permeability simulation is shown below.

-
Right-click the datasets that you want use to generate the vector field in the Data Properties and Settings panel and then choose Generate Vector Field from Datasets in the pop-up menu.
Note You need to select at least two datasets to access the menu item.
-
Select the datasets that will provide the X, Y, and Z vectors in the Choose Vector Field Component dialog, as shown below, in the Vector X, Y, and Z drop-down menus.
-
Select the dataset that will provide the vector modulus in the Vector Modulus drop-down menu.
-
Set a sampling rate, as required.
-
Click OK the generate the vector field.
The generated vector field appears as a new item on the Data Properties and Settings panel. You can examine the vector field in a 3D view (see Vector Field Properties and Settings).
